Common Redland, FL Oven Repair Issues

From baking confections to preparing home-cooked meals, and even just heating up frozen pizzas, like most Miami-Dade County homeowners, you probably rely on your oven on a regular basis. Like any other appliance, however, ovens can malfunction; even high-end brands that are equipped with the latest technologies can develop problems. When issues arise, your cooking and baking abilities are interrupted, which can be extremely frustrating, to say the least. Fortunately, with the help of a licensed and experienced Redland, FL oven repair specialist, you can get back to preparing all of your yummy sweets, treats, and eats.

The following are some of the most common issues that Miami-Dade County homeowners experience that prompt them to call in a Redland, FL oven repair professional.

Won’t Turn On

When you turn your oven on, it goes without saying that it should work. That is, while it might take a little bit to reach the desired temperature, it should start to emit heat immediately. Typically, gas ovens will make a clicking sound, and flames will ignite on the bottom via ventilation slits, and electric ovens feature a heating element along the bottom that will glow red when turned on. If the appropriate reaction for the type of oven you have fails to occur, that means the appliance isn’t turning on. There are several reasons why this may be happening, but a failed heating element is usually the cause.

If your oven isn’t turning on, call a Miami-Dade County appliance repair specialist. A reputable Redland, FL oven repair technician will determine the cause of the problem and will make the repairs that are necessary to remedy the problem.

Won’t Heat Up

An oven’s primary function is to cook food, and it generates heat to do so. If your Miami-Dade County oven turns on but it won’t heat up, that’s a problem, as it won’t thoroughly cook your food. For gas ovens, a faulty igniter could be to blame, and with an electric oven, damaged heating elements are likely the culprit. A licensed and experienced Redland, FL oven repair professional will thoroughly examine the appliance to pinpoint the issue and will use the highest quality parts to fix it.

Won’t Heat to the Proper Temperature

If your oven works and it heats up, but it won’t heat to the right temperature, something is clearly wrong. Baking or broiling with an oven that won’t reach the temperature setting you’ve selected will prolong the amount of time it takes your food to cook, or it could result in unevenly heated or undercooked food. Though there are a number of issues that could be causing this issue, most commonly, a faulty temperature sensor is to blame.

If you’re experiencing this problem, a Redland, FL oven repair professional can help. An experienced Miami-Dade County appliance repair expert will conduct a comprehensive analysis of your oven to determine the underlying cause and will make the necessary repairs.

The Door Won’t Close

The door is a vital component of an oven. It seals the appliance shut to trap the heat inside, so the door has a direct impact on the function of your oven. The door also safeguards you and anyone else who enters your Miami-Dade County kitchen while the appliance is on, as it prevents contact with the heat it’s generating. An oven door that won’t close is a pretty common repair issue, and fortunately, it’s a pretty easy fix. If it feels like the door is loose, it won’t close completely, or it falls open after you’ve closed it, call a Redland, FL oven repair professional.

After thoroughly assessing your oven, an appliance repair expert will accurately diagnose and correct the problem. Usually, this issue is the result of a faulty seal, and it’s a pretty quick and easy fix.

Some information about Redland, FL

Redland, long known also as the Redlands or the Redland, is a historic unincorporated community and agricultural area in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, about 20 miles (32 km) southwest of Downtown Miami and just northwest of Homestead, Florida. It is unique in that it constitutes a large farming belt directly adjoining what is now the seventh most populous major metropolitan area in the United States. Named for the pockets of red clay that cover a layer of oolitic limestone, Redland produces a variety of tropical fruits, many of which do not grow elsewhere in the continental United States. The area also contains a large concentration of ornamental nurseries. The landscape is dotted with u-pick’em fields, coral rock (oolite) walls, and the original clapboard homes of early settlers and other historic early twentieth century structures.

In 1898, John Brinzell became the first settler in southern Dade County, building the first house south of Cutler (now Palmetto Bay) near what is now Silver Palm Drive and SW 157th Avenue (Newton Road). Brinzell acted as a broker locating pioneer settlers on homestead claims in the area. The pioneer homesteaders, living in tents and lean-tos, began clearing and farming their land. Many of the roads that now crisscross Redland bear the names of these pioneers, along with numerical street/avenue designations later assigned by the county. The first harvests were a diverse group of cabbage, carrots, eggplant, beans, and tomatoes. Large-scale farming was impractical, however, because the red, iron-rich soil that gave the area its name could only be found in scattered “potholes” that, at their largest, were only an acre in size. To grow fruit trees, farmers first had to dynamite holes in the oolite rock.

In 1904, residents constructed the Silver Palm Schoolhouse at Silver Palm Drive and Newton Road. The two-story structure was the first and largest of seven rural schoolhouses built in the area in the 1900s. The 1905 arrival of Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway several miles to the east in Princeton allowed the homesteaders to easily ship their produce elsewhere in Florida and the country. In 1906, the one-room Redland Schoolhouse was built of Dade County pine at the corner of SW 248th Street (Coconut Palm Drive) and Redland Road. Within five years, five more one-room schoolhouses were built in the area, the last being the Murray Hill Schoolhouse at the corner of Redland Road and SW 216th Street (Hainlin Mill Drive).

The 1911 William Anderson General Merchandise Store at Anderson’s Corner, looking southeast from Silver Palm Drive

In 1911, William “Popp” Anderson, a surveyor from Indiana who worked for the FEC Railway, built the William Anderson General Merchandise Store, also known as Anderson’s Corner, a general store catercorner from the Silver Palm Schoolhouse. The store served the thriving community until the 1930s, when it was converted into apartments and, eventually, a restaurant.
