Signs You Need to Call a Richmond West, FL Microwave Repair Professional

Of all the appliances in your Miami-Dade County kitchen, the microwave probably gets the most use. It quickly heats up snacks, beverages, and leftovers, and can even be used to make side dishes or entrees. Because of its many uses, a microwave is an invaluable tool. Like any other appliance, a microwave can malfunction. A lot of the issues that affect this appliance start out small, but if they’re left unchecked, they will get worse. By knowing the signs that indicate your microwave is on the fritz, you can have it repaired before it becomes an even bigger issue and the appliance stops working completely and needs to be replaced.

Here’s a look at some of the top signs that indicate scheduling an appointment with a Richmond West, FL microwave repair professional should be a priority.

Not Heating Properly

A microwave is kind of like a car; after you’ve used it a few times, you become familiar with it, know how it functions, and know how long it takes to heat up the items you most frequently use it to prepare. If it’s taking a lot longer to warm up your evening cup of tea, your child’s favorite snack, or the leftovers from the previous night’s dinner (which you’ve heated up several times before), that’s a definite warning sign that something is wrong with the appliance. An issue with one of the internal components, such as the magnetron or the high voltage diode could be to blame. A Richmond West, FL microwave repair service will be able to identify the issue and will have it fixed in no time.

Odd Noises

It’s normal for a microwave to make noise when it’s running; however, if you’re noticing strange sounds – it’s louder than usual or it’s making noises you’ve never heard before – don’t dismiss it! Odd sounds can be caused by a number of issues, such as a faulty roller guide, a malfunctioning cooling fan, or a damaged drive motor, for example. If your microwave is making unusual sounds, turn it off immediately and call a Miami-Dade County microwave oven repair service. An experienced Richmond West, FL microwave repair technician will thoroughly inspect the appliance and will replace the damaged components that are causing the strange noises.

Strange Smells

When you’re microwave is running, the only odor you should smell is whatever you are heating in the appliance. If it seems like your microwave is emitting strange scents, turn it off and unplug it right away. The problem could be electrical in nature, which is a serious issue that needs to be addressed; in fact, the appliance shouldn’t be used at all until a Richmond West, FL microwave repair professional assesses and fixes it. If the odors are the result of an electrical issue and you continue to use it, the appliance could end up being damaged further, or worse, it could start a fire.

The Tray Stopped Turning

Microwave Repair in Richmond West, FL

Most microwaves feature a tray that turns while the appliance is in use. As the tray turns, heat is evenly distributed over the food or beverages that you are preparing. If the tray stops turning, whatever you’re cooking in the appliance won’t heat up evenly, which could result in food that isn’t fully cooked or that has hotspots (spots that remain cold and spots that are extremely hot and can potentially cause burns). If the turntable has stopped spinning, schedule an appointment with a Richmond West, FL microwave repair contractor. An experienced professional will identify and resolve the cause of the problem.

Some information about Richmond West, FL

Richmond West is a census-designated place (CDP) in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 28,082 at the 2000 census.

Richmond West has its origins as an early 1900s settlement named Eureka. In 1907, the one-room Eureka Schoolhouse was built at the corner of S.W. 147th Avenue (Naranja Road) and S.W. 184th Street (Eureka Drive). It closed in 1916 when it and six other area one-room schoolhouses were consolidated into the Redland Farm Life School four miles to the south. In 1927, the Seaboard Air Line Railway came through, building a depot in the settlement, now known as Richmond. Although the depot has long since been demolished, the railroad line, now owned by Seaboard successor CSX, remains.

The 1945 Homestead hurricane caused an estimated $50,000,000-worth of damage, impacting the area. Nearly half of the financial loss happened at the neighboring Richmond Naval Air Station, where winds ignited a fire at three hangars, destroying 25 blimps, 366 planes, and 150 automobiles.

Dadeland Mobile Home Park in Richmond West destroyed by Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

The area remained mostly agricultural until the mid-1980s, when several subdevelopments and the Dadeland Mobile Home Park were built south of S.W. 152nd Street (Coral Reef Drive). In August 1992, Hurricane Andrew destroyed the mobile home park and devastated the surrounding area. Many of the homes and businesses in the area were completely destroyed. In subsequent years, the area was gradually rebuilt, and development proceeded southward to the community’s southern border at Eureka Drive.
