Questions to Ask Before You Hire a Coral Gables, FL Microwave Repair Technician

From cooking breakfast to reheating leftovers, and from whipping up popcorn to making hot tea; you use your microwave on a constant basis. In fact, if you’re like most homeowners, the microwave is probably the appliance that’s used the most. Because you do use it to frequently, your microwave is bound to malfunction at some point.

Whether it won’t turn on, the turntable has stopped spinning, it isn’t heating up your food and beverages, or it’s making unusual noises; whatever the case may be, discovering that your microwave isn’t working properly is frustrating. What’s even more frustrating, however, is trying to find a reputable Coral Gables, FL microwave repair technician. While you’ll have no trouble finding an appliance repair service that services the Miami-Dade County area, you shouldn’t hire the first company you find. You want to be sure that you choose a company that you can count on to offer fast and affordable, yet efficient and long-lasting results. The best way to do that is by reaching out to a few different candidates and asking some key questions.

To help guide you in the right direction, here’s a look at some key questions to ask when you’re interviewing Coral Gables, FL microwave repair professionals. The answers to these questions will help you determine which technician will best meet your needs.

Are you fully licensed?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of rogue appliance repair technicians that are masquerading themselves as reputable professionals. If you hire a rogue contractor, you could end up being swindled.

To avoid being hoodwinked, make sure to ask each of the microwave oven repair services that you’re thinking about hiring if they’re licensed. A license confirms that they have completed the training that’s necessary to repair appliances and that they offer reliable results. Don’t just take their word for it, however; be sure to ask if you can see a copy of their license. A credible Coral Gables, FL microwave repair technician will be more than happy to share this information with you.

Are you fully insured?

A reputable microwave repair service will also be fully insured. In the event that something goes wrong – they damage your microwave or your Miami-Dade County property, or they sustain an injury while they’re working in your home, for example – their insurance policy will cover the related costs. If you hire a contractor that isn’t insured and something goes wrong, you’ll likely end up having to foot the bill. When you’re interviewing Coral Gables, FL microwave repair technicians, don’t just ask if they’re insured; ask to see proof of their policies and check to make sure that they’re valid.

What kind of parts do you use?

To deliver the best results, a Miami-Dade County appliance repair contractor will only use factory-certified parts. This is important because it ensures that the replacement parts that are used have been made properly and have been tested and that they are compatible with your microwave. If the parts aren’t factory-certified, there’s a chance that they either won’t work or that they’ll malfunction and will damage your microwave even further.

Do you have references?

Another important question to ask when you’re interviewing prospective microwave repair service contractors is if they have references. A reputable, well-established Coral Gables, FL microwave repair technician will gladly share a list of references; in fact, they may even provide references without being prompted. Be sure to take the time to reach out to at least a few of their clients to inquire about the services and results they received, and to ask if they would recommend hiring the technician. If any of the microwave repair contractors that you speak with won’t provide references or they do but you can’t get in touch with anyone, consider that a red flag and cross them off your list.

Some information about Coral Gables, FL

Coral Gables, officially the City of Coral Gables, is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, located southwest of Downtown Miami. The United States Census Bureau estimates conducted in 2019 yielded the city had a population of 49,700. Coral Gables is a Mediterranean-themed planned community known for its historic and affluent character reinforced by its strict zoning, popular landmarks, and tourist sights.

Coral Gables was one of the first planned communities, and its planning was based on the popular early twentieth century City Beautiful Movement. It is infamous for its strict zoning regulations. The city was developed by George Merrick during the Florida land boom of the 1920s. The city’s architecture is almost entirely Mediterranean Revival style, mandated in the original plan, with an emphasis on Spanish influence in particular, such as the Coral Gables Congregational Church, donated by Merrick. The domed Catholic Church of the Little Flower was built somewhat later, in a similar Spanish Renaissance style. Early in the city’s planning and development, Merrick shared his vision for Coral Gables as “a most extraordinary opportunity for the building of ‘Castles in Spain’,” as explored in Coral Gables historian Arva Moore Parks’ 2006 book George Merrick’s Coral Gables: Where Your ‘Castles in Spain’ are Made Real. Merrick’s success in executing this vision for the city would catch the attention of Spain’s King, Alfonso XIII, who awarded Merrick the Order of Isabella the Catholic for his support of Spanish culture in Coral Gables.

By 1926, the city covered 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) and had netted $150 million in sales, with over $100 million spent on development. That year also saw the opening of the Biltmore Hotel and Gulf Course, a major landmark in region.

Merrick meticulously designed the city with distinct zones. For example, he designed the downtown commercial district to be only four blocks wide and more than 2 miles (3.2 km) long. The main artery, now known as Miracle Mile, bisected the business district. Merrick could boast that every business in Coral Gables was less than a two-block walk. The city used to have an electric trolley system, which was replaced by the popularity of modern automobiles, but now a new free circulator trolley system, initiated in November 2003, runs down Ponce de León Boulevard. Another distinctive and character-defining feature of the city planned by Merrick are the themed Coral Gables Villages that date to the 1920s and were designed to expand the city’s architecture beyond Spanish influence to include Italian, French, and Dutch South African among others.
